How many times have you been surrounded by chaos or troublesome situations? Or, you find yourself in a stormy, dangerous place where everything around you is crumbling down. How did you get out of this place?
When I think about all the storms I have encountered I am reminded of how I recognized the hushed whisper of Jesus’ voice replacing my fear with confidence in Christ. Whether the storms are a chastisement for disobedience or illness, passing of close loved ones, God has delivered me from them all. He stills the storm. His love is unfailing. His lovingkindness is like a hushed whisper letting me know I am His child and He wants what is best for me. He knows the circumstances of my life when I am caught in a storm. He comes to me in the midst of the storms urging me to take courage in His presence.
Too often we become emotional and fear our storms, lacking faith in the Father to meet our needs. But if you look back to previous trials or storms, you realize our Lord has brought us through each one. You have to win the war inside before you can win the war outside. When I see with spiritual eyes the love God has for me, it quiets my soul. His love is steadfast, firm, and unwavering. It is faithful. It is forever. It will not change no matter what, because God stays the same forever.
I share these great truths because it has helped me past, present and prayerfully the future. I am flawed as one could be, but one thing I know is what Jesus can do in the regular and the supernatural. What makes it so amazing is that His Love is a love I can always depend on. Romans 8:38-39 captures this truth for me. “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Sometimes we want to do things our own way, with our own wisdom, and for our own gratitude. Unfortunately, this is the reason for all the chaos in the world. There is nothing I can do to make the world a peaceful place or void of storms. It is through the love of God. It all depends on Him. His love is irrevocable, no matter what I do. Is your relationship where it needs to be with Christ when the storms come? The time is now to get serious, pick up your cross, and follow His ways daily.
In Psalm 107:29, we’re assured and thankful there are no hopeless situations in God’s sight, for He can do the impossible. “He calms the storm so that its waves are still.” Why do we not reciprocate by giving ourselves fully surrendered to Him? I know it’s difficult but if we willingly choose to do so, just as we do those things we’re passionate about, transformation by the Holy Spirit will do His work. When I look at the storms of my life, I say thank you because it caused a change in my behavior that was more pleasing to God. This is pure joy. Nothing better in life can compare. This is why James tells us to have joy in our trials. James 1:2-4. My storms draw me closer to Christ, Jesus, and leaving me lacking in nothing. We must see them as beneficial or necessary for our lives. What is amazing about this is even when our world shakes, we never leave the hands, or plan, of God.
When we are angry, hopeless, sad, or whatever trial, we can find peace in the promise that God’s unfailing love will never be shaken, even by our rage. Isaiah 54:10, “For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has mercy on you.” He understands our battles with our emotions and He has compassion for us. He offers comfort for us.
Whatever your battle is, He wants you to surrender it to Him in faith, just as you received Him by faith at salvation Trust Him. At times our emotions are too much for us to handle alone. Surrender it to God, He is still enough. Ask God to help you persevere in storms, grow in character, and give you faith that He is transforming your person through storms.Do you have confidence in His unfailing love? If you want to pray, leave a comment and I will respond swiftly. The time is now to get serious, pick up your cross, and follow His ways daily.
Lord, thank you for your grace when I fail. Amen.
