Life Lessons Series 2of 5
For all our single ladies, this message is for us. I know times get rough. We may feel lonely and lack security. We desire male companionship. We have sexual urges. Sometimes we have the world view that something is wrong with us because we have not married, nor have children. Are you discontent? Are you focusing on what you don’t have? Do you have low self-esteem because you’re single? Are you spending too much time in the world wasting time because of boredom? Are you spending too much money to fill the void? I guess we have a variety of things we do to fill the void. Been there, done that.
But, God has another plan for us single women. He wants to use us in His kingdom work. He has a plan and a ministry for us. We just have to slow down, seek Him, and listen. When you do, you’ll be passionate about what He has called you to do; and you will be in a love relationship that will blow your mind.
Let’s take a look at John 12:2 “Martha served” and 12:3 “Mary anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair.” Martha was married, therefore she had to spend her time preparing for dinner and being a host. Now, look at Mary, who is single. She has free time to have a personal relationship with Jesus. Look at her intimacy with Jesus. Mary discerned the meaning of Jesus’ coming death and washed his feet with very expensive perfume. As single women, we have the opportunity to make quality time with God. We have time to study, pray, and put the Word into action. Jesus has us right where He wants us to be. He wants to use us. It is a time to enjoy and grow in the wisdom and knowledge of God.
But, single women of God hold on because we are not the only persons who have experienced singleness. There is a single person who is not a female who is an example for us to emulate. Jesus Christ on earth was a single man. Jesus is invited to a wedding, and He is without a date. He had normal desires as we, but He kept His focus on spiritual desires. I am sure, at times, He felt lonely. Yet, he did not partake in the social norms, worldly affairs. He did not complain or look to other ways to fill the void. Jesus showed no discontentment about not having a wife, children, and sex. He knew those things were not necessary for happiness. His joy was not defined by needing a mate or love to feel secure. He is confident in knowing who He is and what He wants through and by the Father.
Single ladies, God has a divine plan for our lives. God can satisfy our deepest needs, like no man ever could. It is a particular time for us to surrender. As we do this, He will conform us to His character. Enjoy this time. Focus on what we have in Christ, not what we don’t have. Have a heart of contentment.
I can share the contentment I have. I am on a fantastic journey with the Father. He is pruning me; all the negative things out of my heart and out of my life. He is sculpting and conforming me to His image. I feel His presence as if He is right there in my face. He speaks to me and He’s right by my side. Wow, it is powerful! I love Him more each day. I want His perfect will for my life. My singleness is a gift from God at this time, at this moment. I don’t know what the future holds, but I trust Him to bless me as I continue to walk with Him.
If you have never experienced His power and presence in your life, I suggest you be still, surrender, spend some quiet time in prayer and reading the bible. Let Him speak to you and unmask your heart. Single ladies, God has work for us to do, grasp the opportunity. In doing so, you will be blessed in ways you can never imagine.
