MY FRIEND IS A CHRISTIAN, I’M NOT, SHE DOES SOME BAD THINGS I DO. IS SHE REALLY A CHRISTIAN?
Wow sounds like she is calling her friend a hypocrite. Not everyone who names the name of Christ is a genuine Christian. Genuine Christians are not perfect. They mess up. They have flaws. Only God Himself is perfect. Let’s look at the scripture. We will look at the hypocrite and the Christian.
The first view is the Christian in name only, the professing Christian or the hypocrite. Whichever one you want to call him. To describe this person, we will look at the character of the Pharisees in Matthew 23:23-27. The Pharisees were a religious Jewish sect who lived by the law. They had an outward appearance of pretending to be morally good and holy. They observed themselves as being better than others. Jesus calls them plain and simple, “hypocrites”. He said they make themselves look good on the outside, but on the inside, they are ugly. They were lying about who they were, thereby making the real Christians look bad. They refused to preach, teach and live by God’s Word. They rejected Christ. Luke 16:14 tells us they were more concerned about the gold and gifts than spiritual worship in the temple. If you resist His Spirit, you resist Christ. Their hearts are carnal and far from God. Jesus is not included in anything they did. They seek their own worldly gain and honor, rather than God’s glory. They are spiritually blind. Do you know that God’s true followers have been (and still today), persecuted by those who profess to be the true church?
Howere, being a Christian is not about pretending. When you fall short you ask forgiveness and strive not to continue in the same pattern which caused you to sin. Christians can let you down and will often apologize again and again. The life of a Christian is a daily walk. If you look at the life of Peter (who always seemed to mess up) or many others whom genuinely followed Christ, may have acted in ways that appear hypocritical; but did not God come to help these very ones? The goal of every Christian is to become more like Jesus everyday. It is a process. He changes how you live as you love Him more and more.
I can’t judge who is and who is not saved, but if you’re a true follower of Christ, it is very important to be “evenly yoked” with other believers. What doe this mean? It means surround yourself with other believers who can encourage you spiritually and walk with you. Amen!
Well, I pray this helps to give you some guidance in response to your question to Syb’s Spiritual Tips. Be blessed.
