If the world controls our thinking, we are conformers. If God controls our thinking we are transformers. If we copy the behavior and customs of the world, we’re imitators. If we let God transform us, we become original, new persons, changed in our minds and lives. Focusing on God and not the world, He can transform our minds and make us spiritually minded. How does He do this? He does this by using His Word. As we spend time meditating on His Word, memorizing it, and making it a part of our inner selves, God will gradually make our minds more spiritual. Whatever enters our ears will ultimately influence our minds, heart, and decisions. What are you allowing your ears to hear? Is it transforming you or conforming to you?
Whatever the heart loves, the ears will hear. Conformers might listen to ungodly counsel, foolish talking, or even filthiness. Transformers are careful about what they listen to. They avoid ungodly counsel and can identify able God’s voice and obey what He says. What occupies the attention of the heart is a good indicator of whether life is being transformed into godliness or conforming to everything the world entertains.
We are being transformed consists of walking continually. Ephesians 4:1-24 explains the walks. We walk in unity. We walk in purity, not as the world. We walk in love. We walk as children of light. We walk carefully. We walk in harmony, and we walk in victory. Wow, this sounds like an awesome way to live. Conformers don’t have this benefit because they go their own way. The heart is polluted by the world’s appetites, a proud heart, a cold heart, and an unbelieving heart. Unbelieving hearts are not able to understand spiritual things.
The main theme of Transforming Temples is found in this. Jesus Christ is transforming lives today. Wherever He finds a believer who is willing to yield to His will, listen to His Word, and follow His way, He begins to transform that believer and accomplish remarkable things in and through that life.
What is the direction of your path? Life is too short and too precious to waste on the temporary and the trivial. When we walk in the way of wisdom, (Proverbs 4:1-20) God promises to protect our paths, direct our paths and perfect our paths. All pointing to the transformation of our lives. What’s your choice, conformer or transformer?
